It was crazy how he would lose his cool one minute and then be calm and normal to his family moments later. A true psychopath. Terry 'O' Quinn was so great in the role. Intense. I don't remember anything of Dylan Walsh in the remake. I just remember the hot neighbor girl. Lol.

No one deserves it in this movie. He was a psychiatrist helping the daughter if I remember right and the stepfather didn't like him meddling.

Entertainment Weekly once named this as the 22nd scariest movie of all time. I don't know if I would say it was "scary" as much as it was unsettling, disturbing, and had tension.

I guess it could be seen as "scary" with how normal it was and how something so crazy came into a normal family and home and how it could happen to anyone. It is definitely more of a psychological thriller/horror film.
