Well, it had the ending John originally wanted for PIP. The two friends get together. As we know, the test audiences didn't like that for PIP.

Yep. I read the story on the link and it's sweet to read about their relationship and how it was on the set of the film.

I watched this movie for the first time about a year ago

it's interesting that it's like Pretty in Pink but reversed

Yeah. John Hughes originally wanted PIP to end differently so he made this movie which is very much like PIP with his ending.

I actually liked this one more than Pretty in Pink, not just for the different ending. I liked this one's characters more and the story line had more parts I liked too. For example, the part where the rough guys from detention turned out to be real pals for Keith.

I liked that part too. Turned expectations on it's head.
