Sledge Hammer(1986-1988) - "Trust Me. I Know What I'm Doing."

"Sledge Hammer" was a half hour comedy satire on the "cop over the edge" type of movie. Sledge was Dirty Harry, but with no clue whatsoever. He carried his .44 magnum, his best friend, and always said the above line, "Trust me, I know what I'm Doing". But seldom, if ever, did he.

He was known for his over the top style of law enforcement :

As well as being insensitive, brash, and just, well, clueless

The show was widely praised during it's short run(1986 to 1988 and 41 episodes)and has become a huge "cult" type show.

Opening credits (with kick butt theme song by Danny Elfman):

It was a great, hysterical show. Learn more here :

Looks funny, but I've never seen it.

Yeah, it was really funny. A lot of critics and fans always say it was too good for tv, over it's short life. It was clever, sharp, and very funny. Sledge was a real piece of work....and a total idiot. Lol.

It's a pity when good shows don't last very long.

It's terrible. Anything remotely cool or different today doesn't last too long either. They have to make room for the new procedural or medical show or, worst of all, a new reality show.

Thankfully, the entire series of Sledge is on DVD.

I went out to get season 1 today and I couldn't find it anywhere. I've seen it out before a while back. Typical. So many times when I go out to finally get something and it has completely vanished here.

I got the complete series yesterday.

I also jazzed up the OP a bit with a new pic and two YouTube links.
