The Rick Moranis Appreciation Thread - "Because He's The Keymaster!"

Rick Moranis, the "Go to nerd of the 80's" :

I've always been a fan. He was a permanent fixture in the 80's with "SCTV", "Strange Brew", "Ghostbusters", "Spaceballs", "Little Shop Of Horrors", "Club Paradise", "Ghostbusters 2", "Parenthood" and "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids".

He vanished from the scene in the mid 90's or so after his wife fell ill and died. He left Hollywood to take care of his two kids and realized he didn't miss it at all. A few years ago, Rick dabbed his toe in the water, providing a voice in the animated film, "Brother Bear", along with SCTV/Strange Brew co-hort, Dave Thomas. He returned for the sequel too. He also recorded a comedic country western CD a few years back.

Here's hoping we see Rick on the big screen again....Ghostbusters 3, anyone?. Here is a more recent picture of him :

I love Rick. I didn't know all of that about his wife. That is sad.

It is sad. He said he took time off to raise the boys because he couldn't manage doing that and all the traveling required in working. So, he said he took a little break....and then that break got longer....and then he realized he didn't miss it. One rumor said he could retire because he made so much money on the "Honey, I...." movies. Another rumor said he was also tired of being typecast. Who knows what's true. What IS true is that he lost his wife and stayed home to raise the kids. Good for him!. Still, I would like to see him again.

I think there could be some truth to both rumors.

It's nice that he was able to take care of the kids.

That was a pretty cute one. I believe it was 1990 or '91 when that one came out. I think '91.

he is awesome i love rick my favourite movies of his are Spaceballs, Ghostbusters, Club Paradise and parenthood.. i would also say little giants cause i love that movie but his character wasnt anything interesting in it. hes just so awesome its been quite upsetting that he hasnt acted much since the mid 90's i understand why and its a really great reason too.
