Rags to Riches

Does anyone remember this show? It started as a tv movie with 5 girls living in an orphanage. They were adopted by Joseph Balogna ala Little Orphan Annie

It took place in the 60s and also starred Tisha Campbell, Heidi Zigler (of Just the 10 of Us fame), Kimiko Gelman, Heather McAdams (who played Cat on Sisters). The girls used to remake 60s songs to supplement their stories. It sounds kind of hokey but I loved it as a kid and was crushed when it was cancelled.

It was only on for a season. The tv movie that started it all was awesome though.

You are right - it was on Sundays!

OMG -- I use to watch this show, sadly I could not tell you anything about it... I do however remember a scene in a diner with a jukebox though. Does anyone know which one I am talking about?

Didn't several of them work there - or at least Rose? And then they would sing on the bar area thingy?

I really loved that show! It was a lot like the movie "Annie". It's too bad the series didn't last all that long though... I don't remember much from it, other than one of the girls had trouble reading or something. And Mickey was always playing the saxophone.

I remember that video stores here had the tape of the series premiere pilot movie a long time ago. I don't know if you can still find it anywhere...

I've still got a bit of it on tape! I think it's the pilot episode. And I've only got the last 10minutes of it.

I remember an ep at a diner or something. And them singing a tweety bird song (Rockin' Robin, maybe?)

I loved this show!

I remember this show! I loved the butler. I think his name was Clapper. I remember one of the girls got in touch with her biological mother who turned out to be a total irresponsible flake. It was kind of sad, but nice that the guy - the adopted father - was there for her.

I remember this too. I loved it, ironically, I've never liked Annie though. Weird.

Finally found this thread. I've been looking for this and ended up posting on a whole other bunch of threads before I did.

This show was something I looked forward to all the time. I was so sad it was cancelled. I thought they just stopped airing it here in my country (no internet to tell me otherwise).

My fave girl was the blonde one who sang "I love him" as she was watching some guy play basketball. She was twirling around the fence and all.
