The Peter Cetera Appreciation Thread - "Because He's The Inspiration"

This is a thread for one of my favorite 80's and overall favorite male vocalists, Peter Cetera. Legendary member of Chicago and his own solo career. He has one of the most distinct and recognizable voices in music.

Here is Peter in his 80's heyday :

With 80's hits with Chicago like "Hard To Say I'm Sorry", "Love Me Tomorrow", "Hard Habit To Break", "You're The Inspiration" and "Stay The Night", to his solo hits like his two #1 smashes "Glory Of Love", "The Next Time I Fall" with Amy Grant, his top 5 hit "One Good Woman", and his top 10 hit duet with Cher on "After All", he was a top sound of the 80's.

Here is Peter today :

Me too. I have most of his solo CD's and some Chicago CD's. He just has an amazing and interesting voice.

This is the artist who makes me feel like an old fogey, but I don't care.

"You're the Inspiration"
"Glory of Love"
"Saturday In the Park"
& "Look Away"

are still some of my favorite songs ever. They change my mood instantly. I can still remember the 'high' of being in the theater when "Karate Kid Pt. II(?)" ended and "Glory of Love" was in the credits. I was still at that age when all movies are AMAZING, too , and you practically go into a coma until you're back outside, so you can just imagine the imprint.

Me and my parents went to see The Karate Kid II. I was never really a fan of the movies, but I remember the song!!. Lol. I was probably around 7 or so. Lol.

I'll join you on that old fogey thing. Lol. I was able to see most of these iconic 80's films in the theater, while so many people I have talked about it with saw it on cable or video because they "weren't old enough to see it in a theater". Now I'm depressed again. Lol.

Lol! I was old enough to see them in theaters, so you're not the only old one. I just never went to the movies very much when I was a kid. I still don't go that much.

I need to go download some of the songs.

Lol. We went to the movies A LOT. It's only changed as I've gotten older. I only go to the actual theater if it's something big or special. Otherwise, I wait for cable or DVD.

Some Cetera/Chicago music is good to download. I heard that original member/keyboardist/vocalist Robert Lamm has been in contact with Peter of late for "something". Don't know what it is. Could be interesting!.

Yeah, and the movies come to DVD so quickly. Sometimes I'd rather watch at home.

Oh that could be fun. Well, we hope.

People have been wanting Peter to reunite with Chicago, but he has always refused. I think there was some bad blood there when he left. Anyways, it would be nice if he joined them for a show or a CD or something.

Oh well that was a long time ago. Hopefully whatever problems they had are now over.

I would hope so. I know the rest of the band became a bit angry because the band became THE PETER CETERA SHOW in the 80's. Lol. He wanted to have a solo career but stay in the band, a Phil Collins/Genesis thing, but they refused. It was a "All for one, one for all" kind of thing. So, they split. Plus, they weren't really digging the music since it wasn't their "sound" and the horn section rarely got anything to do.

A few years ago someone asked him why he doesn't want to talk about Chicago, and he was like "It's like a divorce. Who wants to talk about your ex?." Lol.

Oh, that definitely sounds like some resentment.

Yeah. But I hope something comes together. Cetera + Chicago = Magic to me. It would be nice to see them together, even if it's not permanent.
