Our House(1986-1988) - "Grandpa's House Is Now Our House..."

Anyone remember this?

"Our House" aired on Sunday nights on NBC for 2 seasons. 1986 to 1988. It starred Wilford Brimley("Cocoon") as retired widower, Gus Witherspoon, who lets his daughter in law(Deidre Hall, "Days Of Our Lives") move in with him with her three kids and basset hound. It was a nice family show. The son was played by Chad Allen("Webster", "My Two Dads", "Dr.Quinn, Medicine Woman"), and the oldest daughter was Shannen Doherty("Beverly Hills 90210").

This is the title in the opening credits :

This is the promo ad for the show :

I don't remember much either. I just thought about it the other day and looked it up. I just remember it was a nice, warm show.

I don't really remember Shannen's character much, but I remember Chad Allen being around a lot of 80s TV.

There isn't a whole lot of "family friendly" anymore

That's a shame. Nothing wrong with a good family show.

Nope. A month or two ago, I posted an article here where television executives said that the "family hour is a relic of the past." It's a shame indeed.

No kidding. What are people supposed to watch? There's so much garbage on TV.

Like I've said before, it's cops, doctors, lawyers, and reality. They plugged into a select group and just make them over and over. Networks are complaining that ratings are down and not what they used to be. Well, maybe it's because you put out the same kinds of shows!!!.

I don't care who's getting voted off next, who makes it to the next round, what washed up celebrity is looking for love, who is Paris Hilton's new BFF, who becomes the next top model, which rich housewife has the next meltdown, or which city will house the next CSI.

Right! I'm tired of the same thing. Give us something original.

Well said, Barry.
