Off Topic Thread #2

We needed a new one. :)

*Maxi* 08-13-2004 10:05 AM

I start working again Monday. :bawl:

LadyZ 08-15-2004 04:40 AM

Sorry to hear that, Maxi

I'm still overseas. I'm ready to head back home though. I miss my bed, my pets, my family, the weather, good Mexican food...

*Maxi* 08-25-2004 04:41 AM

You'll have to give us all the details of your trip, Z! :)

Work is making me , still lots of things to sort out.

Melis 08-30-2004 05:34 PM

From the last thread. Nope, Maxi. I haven't watched anything good lately. I watched most of the Olympics, though.

*Maxi* 08-31-2004 02:56 AM

I didn't watch as much from the Olympics as I thought I would, for some odd reason. :look: I had looked forward to it immensly, but I mostly watched bits and pieces.

Melis 08-31-2004 03:34 PM

There's so much to watch. It's hard to see all of it.

*Maxi* 09-01-2004 03:20 AM

that's right! And I love those kinds of big events.

Melis 09-01-2004 05:02 PM

Has your country ever hosted the Olympics?

*Maxi* 09-01-2004 07:43 PM

A looong time ago, the 1912 Summer Games in Stockholm. Can't say I know much about them though, for obvious reasons.

Do you have any favourite memories from the various Olympics you've watched over the years? :)

I have so many! One of the strongest ones is the ice hockey tournament in the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games. I was a nervous wreck and almost had no voice the day after.

Melis 09-02-2004 06:52 AM

Hehe. That was a long time ago.

I can't say I was into the Olympics all that much when I was younger. I've watched the last ones more than I ever did.

The most memorable for me is the Nancy Kerrigan/Tanya Harding controversy. Not a postive memory but one I'll never forget watching.

*Maxi* 09-02-2004 03:39 PM

That's one I'll never forget watching either, it's a moment stuck in my brain forever.

The most memorable ones I can recall seem to be Winter Olympics related (perhaps because Swedes generally have done better in the winter events, such as skiing for example). :look: But I did love the 1984 LA Summer Olympics, when Carl Lewis won lots of gold medals. Such a hottie too.

Melis 09-03-2004 02:30 AM

That's understandable.

I think I'm too young to remember Carl Lewis. Hmm. I would have been in elementary school then.

Talking about him made me look for some info on the net, and stumbled across his official site. I hadn't visited that one before. http://www.carllewis.com/

Melis 09-05-2004 02:00 AM

Wow, that's a pretty cool official site. I don't usually like official sites, but that one was nice.
