| The Monster Squad(1987) - "My Name....Is Horace!" I hadn't seen a thread yet for this 80's classic, so I thought I would start one myself. Anyone know this one?. ![]() A few people have described it as The Goonies Meet The Universal Monsters. Lol. A young boy(Andrew Gower) and his friends have to save their small town, and the world, when it is overrun by Dracula and his gang og fiends - Wolfman, The Mummy, Creature From The Black Lagoon, and Frankenstein. It was directed by Fred Dekker, who also directed "Night Of The Creeps", another 80's cult classic. Like The Goonies, I thought The Monster Squad had a bit more of an edge, with some surprising kiddie talk, for a family adventure film. That's one of the reasons I, and so many others, liked it. Lol. It was a fun and entertaining film that didn't get the justice it deserved at the box office, but soon made up for it on video and now, thankfully, on DVD.
