Life Goes On

Hey, I know we had one of these threads, but our threads seemed to get pruned a lot.

I loved this show back in the day. I don't know. It was just a nice family show. It seemed the family had real problems and you could relate to them.

I remember that show. It was good. It ran from 1989-1993. I was thinking that it started in '91 or '92, but when I looked it up I realized it actually started at the end of the '80's.

Here's a picture:

Rehashing what I posted on one of the earlier threads. I loved this show when I was just a little girl (yes, I intended for you to think of Que Sera Sera). I saw an episode dubbed in Italian when I was in Italy in late August/early September '01. I met Chris Burke at a Disabilities Awareness conference at the local community college and he autographed my copy of his book. He is so inspirational.

Also, something new. Corky was mentioned in the movie Garden State.

Thanks for the pictures Mallory.

Gaby, I remember your story about meeting Chris. He sounds like a nice guy.

What did they say about him in Garden State?

It was just a passing reference. Zach Braff's character Andrew Largeman played a disabled quarterback on TV, basically his only claim to fame. And Natalie Portman's character Sam has the following interchange with Large:

Sam: Hey, I recognize you.
Andrew: Oh, did you go to Columbia High?
Sam: No, not from high school, from TV. Didn't you play the retarded quarterback?
Andrew: Yeah.
Sam: Are you really retarded?
Andrew: No.
Sam: Ooh, great job man! I really thought you were retarded. I mean, you're better than that Corky kid and he's actually retarded. If there was a retarded Oscar you would win, hands down, kick his ass!"

Okay, so not such a great reference. But I knew they were talking about Corky Thatcher.

Yeah, I think Chris is pretty neat too. That may be the only thing I don't like about the movie .. cuz the movie's really good otherwise.

That's cool that you met Chris Burke. I liked the awareness LGO brought to persons with disabilities.

I have the theme song in my head now...

Same here. I've been humming the theme since I started this thread.

Question for those who remember the show. Which couple did you prefer? Becca/Tyler or Becca/Jesse?

I remember watching this show when I was a kid. Paige was my favorite character.

I preferred Becca/Tyler (despite his scary mullet) and kinda lost interest in the show after Tyler's death.
