That's what made it so relatable. Don't get me wrong. I like the nice shows where everything was nice and wrapped up in a bow in 22 minutes, but I like realistic shows like this as well.

Patti LuPone is 68 today.

I like both kinds of shows too, but "Life Goes On" stands out and stands the test of time because, it was a realistic show that we didn't see a lot of in the 80's and early 90's, we saw a lot of family oriented shows but most of them solved their problems quickly and the shows ended unrealistically happily in my opinion.

life goes on was definitely different. they had problems like everyone else, and they weren't always resolved. they went on for multiple eps.

I don't think that there were a lot of family dramas then or now that deal with problems that went on for several episodes or through out the whole series.

I think that there are a lot of comedic shows that will have strong dramatic episodes or storylines but, "Life Goes On" was a family drama and did not apologize or hold back especially during the last two Seasons.

I know what you mean. Edgy and dark and pretentiously serious is considered "realistic". It may be in some people's lives, but there are many different realities. Many shows tend to stick with the very serious realistic tone because it will hopefully win them awards.

I watched the first disc of this show. It's okay. Not the greatest show ever, but it is a little different and in that, I appreciate it.

"Life Goes On" is a show that gets better as it goes on and I can't say that about many t.v. shows whether they be a family drama or not.
