The 80s - Tightrope (1984) - A cop on the edge....

Clint Eastwood stars in this 1984 thriller. Eastwood plays Wes Block, a detective on the trail of a serial killer. Things hit close to him when the villain begins going after people he knows and the hunter suddenly becomes the hunted.

Trailer:

Even though the film's original director got screen credit, Eastwood himself actually ended up directing most of the movie after he found the director's work too slow.

It was a pretty entertaining thriller, really. One of my favorite Eastwood movies. It was a little different for him. I mean, he is still playing a "hard boiled cop", but it had some slasher undertones to it and some more adult situations.

The movie was originally going to be set in San Francisco but since those movies were already identified with Eastwood's "Dirty Harry" movies, it was switched to New Orleans.
