Rocky Series #5 - "You're gonna eat lightnin, you're gonna crap thunder!"
Thread #5 for all things Rocky. Sylvester Stallone stars as Rocky Balboa, a struggling Philadelphia boxer who gets the chance of a lifetime. We follow the struggles, trials, triumphs successes and comedowns through 6 official films (which began in 1976) and a sequel series. The 80s entries were "Rocky III" in 1982 and "Rocky IV" in 1985. Trailers for 2 & 3: "Rocky V" followed in 1990. "Rocky Balboa" in 2006. Then there was "Creed" in 2015 and "Creed II" opening in November 2018. Website: www.totalrocky.com __________________

Maybe not the classiest quote for a title, but I love that line and thought it was funny.
I am really, really interested in the new movie because of the whole "Rocky IV" aspect of it. __________________

I have been going through them all. I watched "IV' yesterday. I forgot that IV didn't have that iconic opening of the "ROCKY" title card going across the screen. The theme was barely even heard except for a little appearance of it at the end.
Anyways, I ordered "V" because it was the only one I haven't gotten. __________________

I re-visited Part 5 yesterday. The first time since the 90's. It was never favored or critically liked, but I liked the idea of it. What Sly was trying to do. They took away all the excess of the previous two (which I loved) and took it back to basics like the first two. Back to being more gritty and a struggle. The brain damage angle I liked as well even though they ignored this in "Rocky Balboa" I think. A great, great Elton John song at the end too.

"Creed 2" had the 7th biggest holiday weekend opening, but the BIGGEST opening for a live action film.

It appears Sly might be done with Rocky. He made a post this morning thanking everyone for following Rocky for over 40 years and that everything must come to an end. It sounds like he is saying goodbye and that he won't be in more "Creed" films if they are made.
