Comedian Robert Townsend stars in this 1987 cult comedy that takes a satirical look about the racial stereotypes of African Americans in film and TV. Townsend plays Bobby Taylor, a hot dog stand employee who tries to become a successful actor. His journey is interspersed with little fantasy moments and vignettes.

My dad would sometimes surprise me with a video after school. This movie was one of them back in the day. I ended up renting it a few times and catching it a lot on HBO.

He was stealing the guy's jheri curl spray. Lol. When he shakes his head, you can see the spray flying off his hair.

Tiny: "No, you're gonna be seein' stars!"

Even though there are a lot of cliches and stereotypes, and the film used these negative stereotypes and turned them against Hollywood (this was 1987), this is a great and hysterical movie about race and the lack of substantial parts for black actors and the way they have been misrepresented in movies and on T.V.

It is just really funny and clever and ahead of it's time. All the vignettes are funny.
