I distinctly remember a pretty shocking episode later in the run where David (Jason Bateman) meets up with his old friend Rich again and finds that Rich has AIDS. I think it was one of the first shows to tackle such a thing head on.

That episode was pretty cutting edge for back then. Then again, so was killing off your star on a family sitcom after two seasons! Lol.
