1986-1991 sitcom
The Hogan Family which was originally called Valerie and later called Valerie's Family. It starred Valerie Harper (for the first 32 episodes), Sandy Duncan, Jason Bateman, Danny Ponce, Jeremy Licht, Josh Taylor, Edie McClurg, Tom Hodges, Steve Witting, Christine Ebersole, Judith Kahan, Willard Scott, Josie Bissett, Angela Lee, and John Hillerman

I remember this sitcom show  it was so funny. Anyone remember it?

I remember it being around, but I never watched it. All I knew at the time was that Jason was Justine Bateman's brother, or as I called her, Mallory.

Loved Jason Bateman back then. I was bummed when Valerie Harper left the show. It just wasn't the same.

Oh yeah - and she was replaced by Sandy Duncan who used to push wheat thins or fig newtons? Something like that :)

I used to think Jeremy Licht was so nerdy but so so cute! Neither him or Danny Ponce has done much acting since the series was cancelled. Jason Bateman is in comeback mode :)

Jason was so HOT

Sandy Duncan was a surprisingly good replacement for Valerie Harper. I liked Jason Bateman's character the best. Although Mrs. Poole (who also played Principal Rooney's secretary in Ferri Bueller's Day Off) was funny as well.

I heard Valerie Harper got fired for some reason

ChiltonYale 09-10-2005 09:25 AM

That was a big controversy when she got fired. I remember it being a hot news story.

I forgot why

I liked Sandy Duncan as Valerie's replacement.

I forgot why
For the same reason we've seen in Hollywood countless times. :) Valerie wanted more creative control and more money. The studio execs refused, and as a negotiating tactic, she didn't show up for filming one day. They reached a compromise on the money, but soon after, the studio fired her. She sued them for breach of contract. She won a little over a million dollars in the lawsuit.

This was a cute show. I don't remember it well, though.

I watched at least some of it but barely remember the show. John Hillerman was in it so I feel like I should recall more. Here's the title sequence. And a clip.
