It is pretty incredible that the family kept a bigfoot in their suburban Seattle home/neighborhood and no one was the wiser. Lol.

In one scene, John Lithgow complains to his wife (Melinda Dillon) that he asked his dad one Christmas for artists' paints and instead got a BB gun. A reference to "A Christmas Story" where the same actress as his wife played Mrs. Parker.

Some fans look at the TV series based on the movie as taking place in an alternate reality because Harry is still living with the family.

The filmmakers decided to keep Harry a secret prior to the film's release. They only showed snippets of him in the publicity materials or trailers. They wanted to keep him a surprise. Some say that that was also why the movie wasn't as big a hit as it should of been. Most of the artwork afterwards then prominently featured Harry.

In reality, who, after hitting a giant, hairy creature, would strap him to the roof of your car and take him home in your suburban neighborhood? Even when you realize it was Bigfoot? Lol. I guess it doesn't matter because then we wouldn't of had this cute, great movie. I love it.

We are about 4 hours or so away from where they filmed this. We were in Seattle a lot back in the day. I remember going and finding the house they used on one trip and the little shack where the old guy ran as well. Good memories.
