Young Billy Peltzer gets a rare Christmas gift from his zany inventor father one year. A mogwai. A strange and rare animal that seems relatively harmless. However, they come with rules. They hate light. Never get them wet. And no matter what, no matter how much they beg, never ever feed them after midnight. When these rules are broken, little Gizmo pops out evil, scaly gremlins, who then proceed to take over and terrorize the quaint town of Kingston Falls on Christmas.

The film stars Zach Galligan (Waxwork), Phoebe Cates (Fast Times At Ridgemont High), Judge Reinhold (Beverly Hills Cop, Fast Times At Ridgemont High), Corey Feldman (The Goonies, Stand By Me) and Polly Holliday (Alice). The movie was produced by Steven Spielberg (based on his idea) and written by Chris Columbus, who also wrote "The Goonies", and went on to direct such films as "Adventures In Babysitting" and "Home Alone".
