The Goldbergs (2013 -) - Back To The 80s!
"The Goldbergs" is a new ABC sitcom that takes place in the 1980s. It follows the loud (but loving) family led by Mom, Bev (Wendi McClendon-Covey, "Bridesmaids", "Reno 911") and dad, Murray (Jeff Garlin, "Curb Your Enthusiasm"). The three kids are Barry, Adam and Erica. There's also the grandfather, Pops (George Segal). The youngest son narrates the show like "The Wonder Years". The show is modeled after the creators family. He taped his family back then and his actual family tapes from the 80s will also be incorporated into the show. 5 minute trailer: YouTube The theme song is short, but I love the line "I don't know the future/but the past is getting clearer every day." __________________

This was pretty cool. It started off with a montage of Alf, Back To The Future, and a few other things. It was pretty natural, really. It was in the 80s, but they didn't hit you over the head too much with it. It is kind of loud. A lot of yelling. I laughed a few times. It just instantly got me with that montage at the start and the youngest kid with the big cam corder (which looked like ours) wearing a Ghostbusters T-shirt. That could of been me! Lol.
Speaking of me, the oldest son is named Barry!!. Barry Goldberg. Add an s after Gold and change the last 3 letters and it would be my name. It was meant to be! Lol. __________________

Yes, they yell a lot.
The montage made me smile. Most of the episode was shown in bits and pieces during the promos. I will watch it again next week. I like how during the credits home videos of the actual family this series is based on was shown. The bonding between the family in the end was pretty cool. |

Yeah, that was cool how they incorporate the actual family it's based on. I hope it lasts. It was the #1 new comedy so far this fall season, or the #1 new show the night it aired. It was #1 something! Lol.

I am really loving this show. Last night was hilarious. It was daddy/daughter day at the roller rink where he won her a slap bracelet! Lol.
Adam: "It's called Day-glo, because it glows in the daylight" Mom: "Science!" __________________

It was. I loved everything about the episode.
Day-glo was awesome. I can't believe the mom shrunk the clothes on purpose |

I know! That was hilarious. There were a number of good lines that were just thrown out there. Roll it out!

I'm loving this show more and more. I wish it were an hour.
Last night, the youngest son wanted to see "Poltergeist". His mom wouldn't let him. He got his grandpa to take him to it and he was scared bad! Lol. His mom found out and started to make him think the house was haunted so he would come to her and she could hug and comfort him because she complains he doesn't hug her anymore. Lol. Every episode so far has ended with a nice scene and some 80s song. Last night, it ended blaring "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake. Love it! __________________

I'm loving this show too. It's getting better with each episode. The mom is evil, that poor kid She keeps doing something to the youngest in every episode so far. I love how they end the show with an 80's song.
The oldest son got his Reebok pumps! I was laughing when he was pressing the pump. I had forgotten about those. Poor guy probably won't make it as an NBA player |

I hope the show lasts. Ratings have dropped since the pilot with every episode, but I hear it gains well in later playback.

That's too bad about the ratings. Hopefully things start to pick up. Lately shows aren't given much of a chance to improve and get the ax right away. It seems like a waste.

I think it would be perfect if it were moved to Wednesdays in between The Middle and Modern Family.
