Oh yes. You just have to ignore the strange things in movies.
|
Another one of my faves! I have seen this movie countless times...
|
It's one of those movies from the 80's, that is just simple and fun. Like Real Genius for me. But with Girl Just Want to Have Fun... it was fun to watch the music, and the dancing and of course root for the romance. And to go against the strict father. And to have the fun loving best friend who would always be there...
It took the love of music/dance shows, and had fun with it. Yeah, the father could have found out before seeing her on television especially the racket trying to get of the window! But it was fun, regardless... |

It was a good, fun movie. I think it's often overlooked because there were so many dance movies.

Yeah, that too

I never sneaked out of my house.

It's fun. Yeah, I wish I could have been the type of person to sneak out of my house. Of course most of the time, it was never practical.
But this is a type of movie where you couldn't help root for it. Especially as Janie goes against her strict father, and then her nemesis "mean" girl Natalie. I love how she and Lynn bond and go to extremes to meet Janie's dreams. And Lynn even finds her at the end too. It's one of those little type movies that existed but didn't rise to the level of say Breakfast Club or Ferris Bueller's Day Off, or Pretty in Pink. But it was pure fun! The dancing, and romance and rebellion couldn't be missed. |
It was a fun movie!
I love Lynn and Janie as friends. They had cool ideas like the velcro on the clothes. "Next to the walkman and Tab, velcro is the coolest invention." |
So true. I forgot that line, but it instantly came back to me as I read it. All she had to do was show up, and instantly get ready.
Lynn was a great character. |
She wore some crazy outfits! She had a hat with a grasshopper on it or something. lol
