If the show had returned for a 7th season, there would of been another major change in direction. Nell wanted Sam back on the show as a regular. Since Nell, Joey and Addy moved to New York where Sam was attending college in season six, season 7 would of had Nell become the house mother to Sam and her friends. So, pretty much "The Facts of Life".

I found a clip online of the start of that live episode. Nell says something to the camera and then the camera pulls back to reveal the set and the studio audience.

I remember the Chief smacking the girls a few times. I thought that was startling at the time.

Oh,I agree. You don't see that on TV often.

Nell: "A black woman serving pancakes to a white kid."

lol They said stuff that they wouldn't get away with now.

That's true although so was Nell's line. Lol. She had great lines.


Katie: "Dad, It's hard for Nell to stick to her diet when you are stuffing your face like that."

Chief: "I'm not stuffing."

Nell: "Right. He's eating for two in case he gets pregnant."

Chief: "See what happens? Take away their trough and they get vicious."

Nell: "It's no problem. I'm eating clean, lean and healthy. After all, you are what you eat. Another helping of jack***, Chief?"
