The Fog(1980) - "There's Something In The Fog!..."

John Carpenter's 1980 classic "The Fog" tells the story of a small fishing town named Antonio Bay. The town is about to celebrate it's centennial, but a mysterious fog begins to blow into town, and within it comes some nasty spirits looking to settle a horrible town secret. A small group of people are left to fend for themselves. Watch out for the fog.

I love this movie!. One of my all time favorites. John Carpenter's late 70s/early 80s horror work was great. Just like Halloween, "The Fog" was heavy on atmosphere, tone, and genuine creeps and chills. It starred Jamie Lee Curtis, Adrienne Barbeau("Creepshow", "Back To School"), Janet Leigh("Psycho"), Tom Atkins("Halloween 3", "Night Of The Creeps", "Lethal Weapon"), Hal Holbrook, and Nancy Keyes("Halloween").

Here is the trailer :

Yeah, it's one of the better ones. I just love it. The feeling, the tone. A real air of creepiness. It's way too underrated in my opinion.

It is out on DVD in a great special edition with some nice features. Widescreen and Full Screen options!. Lol.

It's fun to see all of that stuff. I wish all DVDs had extras.

Yeah, me too. Most deleted scenes were worthy of being cut, but some are very interesting.

Alternate scenes or extended scenes are interesting too.

Some interesting tidbits about The Fog :

John Carpenter actually shot it twice. When he was finished, he realized there was something missing. It wasn't scary enough for the studio. So, he went back and shot a good part of the film again. 1/3 of the movie is new footage or re-shot scenes.

Adrienne Barbeau, who plays the DJ in the movie, Stevie Wayne, was John's then wife at the time.

The lead hero character was named Nick Castle, who was named after the guy/friend who played Michael Myers in Carpenter's previous film, "Halloween".

One of the fishermen is named Tommy Wallace, another Carpenter collaborator who worked on "Halloween" as production designer and co-editor, wrote and directed "Halloween III", and was, at one time, married to Nancy Loomis(Kyes) who appears in this movie as Sandy, and in "Halloween" as Annie.

Love this movie! It's getting cooler and I am getting into my fall horror movie mode. I think this one will be first up.
