Ferris Bueller's Day Off appreciation: "I asked for a car, I got a computer."

(Didn't seem to be a thread for this movie, or perhaps I'm just blind )

Bueller
Bueller
Bueller
Bueller

Disuss this "righteous dude".

Few quotes to get us started:

Cameron: (singing) When Cameron was in Egypt's land..."let my Cameron gooooo!"

Cameron: Ferris Bueller, you're my hero.

Ferris: Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.

Economics Teacher: Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
Simone: Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Boy in Police Station: Drugs?
Jeannie: Thank you, no. I'm straight.
Boy in Police Station: I meant, are you in here for drugs?
Jeannie: Why are you here?
Boy in Police Station: Drugs.

[i]Where's your brain?

I asked first

Where's your brain?

Alan Ruck will always be Cameron to me.

I love Ferris Bueller! The movie was so funny!

But I've got a confession. I always hoped that Cameron and Sloane (was that the girls name? it's been awhile...) would hook up. They just seemed to connect more than her and Bueller.

I thought they looked good together too (yep, her name was Sloane).

I wonder what ever happened to her. The last movie I remember seeing Mia Sara in was Time Cop with Jean Claude Van Damme.

I had a sub one day in french and the only guy in class wasn't in the classroom, I think or something, and the teacher starts saying "Bueller. Bueller. Bueller. Anyone? Bueller." we all started cracking up.

I always went for Bueller/Cameron myself, love the slashies. But Cameron/Sloane is good too.

I'd love an 80's-ish teacher with a sense of humor.

Hahahahah...I admit, I didn't have the slashy eye back then. I guess it was something that developed as I got older. Or, after seeing the LOTR movies.

Now I have a reason to watch it again.

Glad to be of service.

And I made Ferris reference today. In Calculus, we were talking about this kid Brian who used to be our math class (we're advanced so we've pretty much had the same kids in our class since 7th grade unless they stopped talking math which this kid Brian did) and how he always misses school on test days and how his mom lets him. So I called him a Ferris and then a classmate said "But he doesn't have cool days off. He just sits around." and I said, "Yeah, that's true."

So that's my Ferris reference story for the day.

Hehe...

Alright folks, lets fess up. We all took Ferris days off. What did you do on your best day off from school?

I skipped school the day after attending a concert. (Why do they have concerts during the week, anyway?) It was a Debbie Gibson concert and it was in a city about an hour and a half away. We got back pretty late, so I just pulled a Ferris and stayed home the next day.

I believe I sat at home and listened to Electric Youth.

My Group and I cut the first day of our Jr. Year and went to San Francisco. We did all the things a tourist would do (even though I was born there), went to Fisherman Wharf, ate at Knuckles, visited Chain Town, went to Union Square, ect, ect...

I love this movie. I didn't even see it until I was 14. Which... Hello? Where had it been all my life (I'm pretty sure it came out the year I was born).

SAVE FERRIS!

That sounds awesome, Elle. Everyone needs a tourist day in San Francisco. I do them occassionally and I also was born there!

Didn't it seem like the day wasn't long enough for Ferris to do all that stuff? I mean, they went to a ballgame, crashed a parade...

I was thinking the very same thing when I first saw it. That was one LOOOONG day. And it was all before school ended, which was around 3pm?

Yep. I remember we got out of class at 2:57pm. So let's see...Ferris got up, showered, coaxed Cameron out of bed, got Cameron to impersonate Sloane's dad, picked up Sloane at school, went to lunch, went to a ball game, sang at a parade, sat around while trying to "rewind" Cameron's car, listened to Cameron's tearful tirade, went home, got hit by his sister with the car on the way home, and finally got to bed.

Ferris had a big day.
