Michael almost didn't get the part of Alex because the President of NBC didn't think that Meredith Baxter and Michael Gross would have a son that was so short.

It is. What is even sillier is that the cast wanted the Keaton's to die in a plane crash in the final episode so that there would never be a reunion show.
