The Show
Family Matters is an American sitcom which originated on ABC network from September 22, 1989 to May 9, 1997 and then aired on CBS network from September 19, 1997, to July 17, 1998. A spin-off of Perfect Strangers, the series revolves around the Winslow family, a middle-class African American family living in Chicago, Illinois. Midway through the first season, the show introduced the Winslows' nerdy neighbor Steve Urkel (played by Jaleel White), who quickly became its breakout character and eventually the show's main character.

Having run for nine seasons, Family Matters is the second longest-running U.S. sitcom with a predominantly African American cast behind The Jeffersons, which aired for 11 seasons. In terms of the number of episodes, Family Matters is ranked third after Tyler Perry's House of Payne (254) and The Jeffersons (253), with 215.

That title! Oh my gosh. Lol. That is perfect.

Melis 03-21-2017 04:04 PM

Lol! I found it while looking for quotes.

GardenSirens 03-21-2017 08:20 PM

best line ever!

Barrybgb 03-22-2017 08:26 AM

That sounds like a quote a younger Urkel would of said.

GardenSirens 03-22-2017 12:19 PM

Wasn't it?

Melis 03-22-2017 01:09 PM

I don't know about that, but it's a funny one.

Carl's boss, Sgt. Murtaugh, was kind of a buffoon. It makes you wonder how he got as far as he did to become a Sgt. Didn't he fall for Rachel once and he asked her out on a date?

GardenSirens 04-05-2017 01:04 PM

i thought he did

Melis 04-05-2017 02:03 PM

I don't remember them going on a date but I remember him liking her.

I could of sworn they did and he was duller than dirt and Rachel hoped there wouldn't be another one. Maybe I am making it up in my head. Lol.

I kind of remember that one. I think Carl was upset when Rachel told him she didn't like his boss (understandably since his job was on the line).

Melis 04-05-2017 05:46 PM

Oh yeah, that sounds familiar.

"Family Matters" was just trending on Twitter. I got excited for a moment until I found out it was about Tom Brady.

Melis 04-19-2017 07:47 AM

eww don't care about him.
