The Facts Of Life Appreciation Thread - "You Take The Good, You Take The Bad..."

The Facts Of Life

The Facts Of Life premiered in August of 1979 and ran until 1988. 9 seasons and over 200 episodes.

The show was a spin off of "Diff'rent Strokes", in which Edna Garret became the dietician at Eastland Academy, an all girl's school, and the focused around Blair Warner(Lisa Whelchel), Jo(Nancy McKeon), Natalie Green(Mindy Cohn), and Dorothy "Tootie" Ramsay(Kim Fields).

In 1983, the show relocated to Edna's Edibles, a shop Mrs. Garret opens. The shop is connected to a big house, where all the girls move in.

in 1985, the shop became "Over Our Heads", and the following year, Mrs. Garret left. The show became this :

And the shop was like this :

I loved this show. Watched it every week. Now it's on ON DEMAND, and I am watching it again for the first time in years!.

I loved it too. Natalie and Jo were my favorites, but I loved them all.

EDIT : I had trouble with some pictures in my first post, but I got how I want it now.

I love this show!

I thought we had a thread for it- but it must have been lost in the ff crash.

I loved all the characters but I haven't watched in ages.

Hehe, I think there was one a long time ago. The threads fall to the back when people don't post on them.

That's too bad. I think it's Channel 1.

I hope it continues for the rest of the series. Sometimes they will drop it right in the middle. Watched a Christmas episode last night. Made me feel cool. Lol. Blair, Jo, Natalie, Tootie and Mrs. Garret had to perform a Christmas show at a prison for a bunch of convicts. Blair thought it was a house for little boys....found out it was a house for very big, bad boys. Lol.

It was. I didn't remember it, but I am sure I saw it. Anyways, Blair refused to partake in it once she learned it was a prison. The others were big hits and, of course, Blair learned her Christmas lesson and sang the last song. The ep was called "Christmas In The Big House". Lol.

Here's a tiny pic :

No problem. It was a nice episode. I loved christmas episodes in the 80s!. In fact, this december I was thinking of doing something about christmas in the 80s.

I loved the serious episodes this show would do. They really touched on tough subjects.

That sounds fun.

I wish I could remember more of this show. Is it on DVD yet?

The first few seasons are. 1&2 came together, and then they released the 3rd season. Not sure if they got past that or not.
