Ernest Saves Christmas(1988) - "It's Christmas!. Know What I Mean, Vern?"

Jim Varney stars as Ernest P. Worrell in his second big screen adventure. Ernest is a taxi cab driver who picks up an old man who turns out to be Santa. Santa is looking for a replacement, and it's up to Ernest to help Santa find his man or else Christmas will be over forever.

I remember seeing this one in the theater. I used to love Ernest. This was the best one.

This wasn't my favorite Ernest movie but I loved it nonetheless. I love Ernest and I can't wait to watch this soon, I always watch it around Christmas time. Thanks for the thread.

No problem!. What was your favorite one?. I lost interest when it seemed there was a new Ernest movie at the video store every month. Lol. I liked the first 3 or 4 or so, and then I kind of slacked off with them. R.I.P. Jim Varney.

Melis - Yeah, I liked the earlier ones the best. This one the most.

In addition to this one, I loved Ernest Scared Stupid as well as Ernest Goes to Jail. It took me years to realize Jim Varney played both Ernest and the evil guy Nash. I've herad he really enjoyed playing evil too. Ernest Goes to Camp is pretty good too. I also remember seeing Ernest Rides Again in theaters. Jim is from my home state and a city about 2 hours from my hometown too. He's truly one of a kind.

He sadly died from lung cancer (lifetime smoker) in 2000.
He was never photographed smoking though, he didn't want his younger fans to get the wrong idea about it.

That's great that he thought of his young fans. Very nice, caring man.

It was very nice of him to care that much and he also would do a lot of "Make a Wish" charity work for kids and would come dressed in character.
He was a very heavy smoker, 2-3 packs a day for at least 20 or 30 years. He is truly missed.

I really hope that people learned a lesson about how unhealthy smoking is.
