Deadly Friend (1986) - There's no one alive who'll play with the girl next door.

Wes Craven directed this 1986 film. Genius teen Paul moves into a new home with his mother and soon befriends two people. When his relationship with the girl next door, Samantha (Kristy Swanson) blossoms, tragedy strikes thanks to her abusive, alcoholic father. Paul tries to bring Sam back by putting the brain of his robot into her. Unfortunately, she doesn't come back quite right.

Trailer:

Anne Ramsey ("The Goonies, "Throw Momma From The Train") co-stars.

It's not top shelf Wes, but it's goofy fun. Plus, you get one hell of an exploding head scene involving a basketball.

The guy who wrote this movie wrote "Ghost".

So many re-writes and re-shoots took place on this movie. It was originally intended as PG rated film. A science fiction thriller with a dark romance. Test audiences reacted negatively to it. The studio ordered six more gore scenes and wanted to jump on Wes' horror background which, apparently, the studio didn't really know about. I don't know how they couldn't.

what the ****, how did they not know that. He had last house on the left, hills have eyes and nightmare on elm street as his big movies at that time.

Don't expect anything special. It's just an oddity in Wes' filmography. I still like it though.

Oh, I'm totally ready to be entertained by a lower quality horror film! I never have expectations.

I guess it is just us. It's by no means a great classic, but it's fun and has it's moments. The basketball scene for one.
