The Cure #1 - Friday Im In Love Take me For a Walk for the Lovecats is Close to Me

These guys deserve a thread in the 80s

They were the band the weirdos and isolated kids listened to, in many ways they were depicted to be a goth band because of their makeup, hair and what we saw in their videos. In particular the video for Lullaby

Anyway heres some videos for some of their most well known songs->

So much were they a cult band, Robert Smith has attained the status of the Gothfather

Although Robert Smith often dismissed the Cure as being a goth band

Anyway the band managed to get a foothold in the mainstream due to how they could make a catchy tune as opposed to just making goth specific songs, that and Robert Smith's androgynous looks

Thanks for the thread. I can't say I really know anything about The Cure.

I've offered to make this thread before but Barry and Melis don't listen to them. My wife and I listen to the Cure almost every day and she's wearing a Cure t shirt right now!!! We absolutely adore them!

they are a british band, so its unsurprising that they havent made much of an impression in America (a lot of British bands have that shortcoming), they are are defined to in the 'alternative' genre even though they have made some reasonable radio hits

I think Robert Smith made a guest voice appearance on an episode of South Park, the meca streisand episode, out of all episodes!

Pictures of You, a very popular song from the Disintegration album was used in a HP Printer commercial

For those fans, what is their favorite album of their's?

Their albums are starkly different to their hit singles, they are quite dramatic, a lot of the hits mentioned before are orphans on their albums

For me: Disintegration, the album that has the songs 'Lullaby', 'Lovesong', and 'Pictures Of You', its arguably their strongest overall album, you dont have to be a big fan to admire the musicianship or what they were trying to achieve with their music

Its also a very good album for comfort when youre down
