Cheap Trick - They Want You To Want Them!

Cheap Trick first bursted onto the scene in the late 70s, brimming with crunching guitars, power pop, rock and roll, and a love for british guitar rock as well. CT was guitarist Rick Nielsen, singer Robin Zander, bassist Tom Petersson, and drummer Bun E. Carlos. Throughout their 32 year career, they have been hailed many times as the "American Beatles". They have infused different genres and have been influential to other bands and artists crossing rock and roll, pop, alternative, and punk. Some of their classic songs from this period include "I Want You To Want Me" and "Surrender".

CT kept going into the successful 80s with more band classics like "Dream Police" and "If You Want My Love".

The band turned to a more mainstream audience MTV sound, but also gained some of the best success on the charts in the 80s with "The Flame", which became their first and only #1 single, and a top 5 hit version of Elvis Presley's "Don't Be Cruel".

The band has continued on into the 90s and 00s....

One of my favorite bands ever, they have been hailed as the "greatest classic rock band out there today", and are still making and putting out great music. Their new CD, "The Latest", is the best CD I've heard all year.

Thanks!.

They are my latest musical obsession. Lol. Trying to get my hands on everything I can find. Sadly, a lot of their studio stuff is hard to find in the stores here. I've gotten a few and have ordered some others.

Yeah, I can't find a lot of 80s stuff in stores. I don't know what I ever did before the Internet.

I did manage to find the "Dream Police" CD, which is great, but not much else. I have one on order now.

Their new CD, "The Latest", is great. Straight forward rock and roll with some soaring power pop and Beatlesque/Lennon-ish harmonies and vocals on other songs. Robin Zander is one of the best and most underappreciated vocalists in rock/pop ever.

They come here every year, but I haven't seen them yet. They are highly praised for being a really tight band live, and many have said they are the best classic rock band touring today. They were going to be here with Def Leppard, but Leppard canceled the gig due to family things. Hopefully they will re-schedule. I need to see them live!.

Those are great songs. I love "The Flame". They lost some credibility with that one with a lot of fans who thought they went too commercial, but I love it. In fact, that was the one song I kept hearing that made me finally go out and get a hits CD, and that's what got the ball rolling.

I got two CT CDs for Christmas too. "At Budokan", which is one of the holy grails of live rock albums, and their live album performing The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, complete with DVD of the concert as well.

I love them too, and that one is a "monster" indeed. Lol. Robin Zander sounds so great on it. Then again, he sounds great on everything.
