| Cannot find 80's children's book i loved I just joined tonight, so I hate to write a book here myself, but... ![]() "Being an young school-aged child of the early to mid-eighties, there are more than a few books that have left an impression on my life. Certain classics for that era come to mind with ease; “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (and its sequels), “James and the Giant Peach” and “The Chronicles of Narnia” helped shape my appreciation for literature. There are a couple of lesser-known books that also rank up on the list of favorites. Two in particular can still be pictured on my book shelf. I believe that they were both Scholastic books, or others that could be found at any elementary school’s book fair. One, I think, was titled “Frankenstein’s Grandmother,”…but the other one cannot be recalled in its entirety. So, now I have been on a search for this one specific book for years. Fragments of the story are still in my memory, but I have had overwhelming difficulties with critical information like a title, an author or the name of the protagonist. All that I can remember is that it’s a tale following a male teacher who is transported to another dimension, a black-hole of sorts, and has an exciting adventure trying to return to his classroom. I have asked my parents, older siblings, friends and even librarians if they recall ever hearing of this book. But to no avail. Now, I am beginning to wonder if either it was maybe a cartoon I randomly watched one afternoon or if I just had a dream one night that found its way to one of the far corners of my mind. If anyone has even the smallest recollection of this book, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. Thanks." | |||
