Big Trouble in Little China (1986)

John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China (1986)

Summary: When truck driver Jack Burton (Russell) and his friend Wang Chi (Dun) go to the airport to meet friends arriving on a flight from China, bandits from Chinatown kidnap Wang's green-eyed Chinese girlfriend (Pai). To rescue her, Burton and Wang go into the mysterious underworld beneath Chinatown, where they face a number of dangerous challenges and battle kung-fu masters and a 2,000-year-old man – an ancient sorcerer named Lo Pan (Hong).

CAST:
Kurt Russell... Jack Burton
Kim Cattrall... Gracie Law
Dennis Dun... Wang Chi
James Hong... David Lo Pan
Victor Wong... Egg Shen
Kate Burton... Margo
Donald Li... Eddie Lee
Carter Wong... Thunder
Peter Kwong... Rain
James Pax... Lightning
Noble Craig... Sewer Monster
Suzee Pai... Miao Yin
Chao Li Chi... Uncle Chu

QUOTES:
Wang: You think they'd let us waltz in and out of here like the wind?
Jack Burton: Yes, I thought that was your whole Damn Point!

Jack Burton: Ahh, You know what ol' Jack Burton says at a time like this?
Thunder: Who?
Jack Burton: Jack Burton...me!

Lo Pan: ... my curse will be lifted!
Jack Burton: You can go off and rule the Universe from beyond the grave.
Lo Pan: Indeed!
Jack Burton: ... or check into a psycho ward, whichever comes first, huh?
Wang: Jack...!
Jack: Jack what? I'm supposed to buy this? 2000 years and you can't find one broad to fit the bill? Come on Dave, you must be doing something seriously wrong!

Gracie: I'd go with you but...
Jack Burton: I know, there's a problem with your face.

Lo Pan: Who are these? Friends of yours? Now this really pisses me off to no end!

Jack Burton: Son of a bitch must pay!
Jack Burton: Its all in the reflexes.
Jack Burton: Are you crazy? Is that your problem?
Jack Burton: Lo Pan? Which Lo Pan? Little old basket case on wheels, or the ten foot tall roadblock?

--------

Didn't see a thread for this, thought I'd make one.

This is the movie my brother watched a dozen times on TV and a over Hundred on DVD once he bought it and quoted it until I wanted to send him to "the hell of the upside down sinners!". Big Trouble in Little China is truly a Hillarious and action-packed B-Movie, that makes a reference to everything it possibly can within its scope without insulting it. I am also rather late in realizing that Kurt Russell was emulating John Wayne with his Jack Burton character (at least that explains his accent). Truely one of the great cult-films of the 80's. My favorite part?: Jack Burton gets gun-ho with his Uzi, makes a battle cry, fires it, and gets K.O.'ed by the debris of the ceiling.

Anybody else enjoy this flick?

That would be awesome! It doesn't even have to be a sequel to anything, I would still watch it.

Such a fun, bizarre, entertaining movie. I love how Kurt Russell does a heroic John Wayne type impression.
