Thanks for the thread. MTV was fun, but I didn't watch it very much.

No problem. I think this is one of my favorites I've made so far.
You know, I remember all of this, but I didn't appreciate MTV as much as I should have back in the day. It was just great. MTV is a joke nowadays. It's been in the dumpster for over a decade. They shouldn't even call it MTV anymore, since music is no longer a priority it seems. |

Thanks so much for starting this thread. I still remember my first time watching MTV not that long after we first got cable. I was really amazed by it and became so totally obsessed with it that i stopped watching the cartoons i used to watch afterschool (i.e. G.I. Joe, Transformers, etc) and switched over to watching Dial MTV. My favorite shows were Remote Control(which i wanted to be on so badly), Dial MTV and Headbangers Ball. I really miss those good old days of MTV. I want that MTV back now.

You're welcome everyone!!!. Lol.
MTV really was awesome. The whole vibe of it, the look of it, the videos, the music. It happened at the perfect time!. I loved Remote Control too. I loved how when you were off the game, the chair would go back into the wall. Lol. I also really liked how, when Michael Jackson died, they had veterans like Kurt Loder and John Norris on there talking. I thought that was nice. |

Okay, I went back and re-did my page more like what I did with the Nickelodeon. Pics and links and more shows and stuff.

Ken Ober, the host of "Remote Control", has died. He was 52. No cause was given as of yet.

I heard about that earlier today. Obviously this is very sad news. I feel like another piece of my childhood has gone away. My condolences to his family.
RIP Ken. __________________

Wow, didn't realize he was in his 50's. He always looked younger to me.

Yeah, very sad and shocking. I loved that show. I've heard he was a really nice guy too.

I was watching the extras on my Elm Street box set and they had a number of clips of Freddy hosting on MTV in the 80s, as well as some Elm Street related music videos. Of course, this was back when MTV did cool things like that.

MTV continues to "devolve" even further. They have updated the logo. It's till the M with the TV in the corner, but the "music television" that was under it is gone. It also has images of people on the network, a lot of the nobody reality people, in the "M" part. *Sigh*
