80's Horror Thread: Sure it was cheesy...but oh so good!

I know we have a Friday the 13th thread....but I thought that a thread for all things horror would be cool.

I don't know about you but I thought the 80's was the best decade for horror...sure it was cheesy but oh so good.

They definitely weren't cheesy back then! They scared me to death! I watched Evil Dead I and II again about a year ago and yes, they were pretty darned cheesy to this 31 year old.

Poltergeist (1982)
Hellraiser (1987)
Nightmare on Elm St (1984)
The Shining (1980)
The Seventh Sign (198
Friday The 13th (1980)
Fly, The (1986)
An American Werewolf in London (1981)
Psycho II (1983)
Creepshow (1982)
Aliens (1986)
The Lost Boys (1987)
Dead Zone, The (1983)
The Entity (1981)
Maximum Overdrive (1986)
Fright Night (1985)
Christine (1983)
Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986)
Videodrome (1983)
Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983)
Children of the Corn (1984)
Firestarter (1984)
Nightmare On Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge, A (1985)
Poltergeist III (198
Cujo (1983)

Scanners (1981)

Wicked list.

I love 80's horror. Some movies were really scary...Nightmare on Elm Street scared the life out of me when I caught a glimpse of it.

The Friday the 13th movies are also favourites of mine...Parts 1 and 2 in particular.

i know

I laughed the whole way through, at the part were he gets thrown threw the forest really fast by the evil & hits the tree i laughed my head off so much.

Oh & when he cuts his girlfriend's head with the chainsaw, & his reflection is like youre not fine you just killed your girlfriend with a chainsaw .

Yeah i would see it as a comedy horror .

The Friday the 13th movies are great. I find most of them funny too. The second one is wicked. I love how they incorporated comedy into it.

The Freddy films are good. The original movie is my fave and most scary.

Maybe I was gullible as a child, but all those movies scared the crap out of me! Including and especially the Evil Dead movies.

However, once I saw The Army of Darkness, I realized how humorous Evil Dead I and II must have been. When I watched them again, I did crack up a bit.

Elm St: the scene that filled many a nightmare for me was when he was walking along with his arms outstretched and his razor-fingers were scraping along the side.

The Lost Boys is still one of my favourites.

The scene in Nigtmare that scared me the most as a child was when Amanda Wyss was on the ceiling getting cut up. That scene traumatised me for most of my childhood. I'm not that bothered now.

The 'pulling veins' bit was nasty...makes me feel weird just thinking about it ewwwww.

The third one is considered the best in the series...but I can't see why.

I tend to prefer the original over sequels.

Oh my, I just remembered I met John Saxon! He played the dad in movie 1!
I'm going to post that on the who-have-you-met thread!
