This sounds awful, I wish Will Smith was one of those celebrity parents who didn't push their kid into the business at such a young age.
You are right. Mr. Miyagi was Japanese(Okinawa) and Jackie Chan is Chinese(Hong Kong). Jaden is 10, 11 in July. But this is a re-make or a "re-imagining" as they sometimes call it, so things can be changed/different.

I am not really a Karate Kid person, so I probably wouldn't be seeing this. Lol.

They probably should have just created a whole new movie that doesn't have anything to do with The Karate Kid so that people like me won't be making comparisons at every turn. I don't mind a remake as long as they don't stray too far from what made the original film enjoyable and it seems like that is exactly what they are doing now.

*UPDATE*

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - Kyle Gallner("Veronica Mars", "The Haunting In Connecticut") has been cast as 'Quentin' in the new movie. Supposedly, this character is the 'Johnny Depp' of the movie. Also, Jackie Earle Haley is getting fitted for things this week, and there is supposed to be pictures coming of that.

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Harold Ramis talked once again that everyone was coming back for the new film, but he mentioned someone that hadn't been mentioned before - the one and only Rick Moranis!. Moranis has been MIA since "Little Bully" back in 1996. Ramis mentioned Moranis during an interview at ew.com. That would be so cool!.

It's shaping up that way. The 4 Ghostbusters are on board, and now Moranis may be back. Now we just need to hear from Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts!. GB3 should be it's own film of course, but I think it would be nice to go back to GB1 as much as you can. Have as many people back as you can. Maybe a little wink and nod here and there. An appearance by Slimer?. Walter Peck?. GB1 had the Stay Puft Marshmellow man, and GB2 had the Statue Of Liberty. GB3 should have something iconic coming to life too.

*jumps into the conversation*

I thought the Karate Kid movie being filmed wasn't like the original but instead it was going to be like... some kind of... I don't know stand alone that wasn't related to the old franchise. I heard it on the radio a long time ago so don't remember the exact words.

As for the Nightmare on Elm St. movie... My uncle totally ruined those movies for me.

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Dan Aykroyd has said in a new interview that he hopes Sigourney Weaver will be in the new film, and that they are trying to work her into the movie. That's good news. Also, he mentioned that there is going to be more than just 4 new ghostbusters. Apparently, there's going to be like an academy of new trainees, boys and girls, going on. He also mentioned that we will love the guy who is running that part of the operation, but he can't really mention it yet. My money?. RICK MORANIS!. Wouldn't that be funny is Lewis was part of the training thing?.

BACK TO THE FUTURE 4 - Zac Efron apparently expressed interest in playing Marty McFly in a new BTTF movie, according to a teen web site. He's a big fan and even owns a DeLorean!. Thankfully, someone from Universal wrote in saying there are NO plans for another BTTF movie. This was at Moviehole. Movie & Entertainment News. Now, we can all wipe our brow and let out a big WHEW!.

It would definitley rock. I don't know if you saw my past updates, but Harold Ramis mentioned Rick when he listed people who were coming back. I haven't heard anything 100% official, but if Ramis says it!. It would be great. Moranis retired in the mid 90's or so, so this would be great!.

As for BTTF?. I have nothing against Efron, but that is one movie I DO NOT want touched. No Michael J. Fox = NO MOVIE. Thankfully, execs over at Universal appear to be smarter than other ones. Lol.

Yeah, BTTF wouldn't be the same without M.J. Fox.

*UPDATE*

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - Thomas Dekker, who is currently playing John Connor on "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" on FOX, has been cast as Jesse in the new film. Jesse?. The name of the lead boy in Nightmare 2. Is this a wink, wink to the audience?.

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Nothing really new, but I reported that they want Sigourney in the new movie, and now Aykroyd has said she WILL appear in the film. I never like "appear". Does it mean it will be a big role like before, or a cameo?. I guess we will see.

*UPDATE*

THE GOONIES 2 - Could it actually be happening?. Okay, here's the deal :

UK magaine EMPIRE is celebrating it's 20th anniversary with a special issue that is being Guest Edited by none other than Steven Spielberg. The Goonies, along with the cast, was part of the celebration. Corey Feldman, from his blog, says that everyone(including Spielberg and Richard Donner)were there and that they filmed a lot of stuff, including one on one interviews. Apparently, the long rumored sequel is mentioned in the magazine. Also, Feldman says "I hope this is the start of a lot of good Goonies stuff coming up".

So, what does this mean?. Some other sites think this is a springboard for Spielberg to announce that Goonies 2 is finally happening. Could it?. The cast apparently talked about their hopes for the future concerning the film, and Feldman thinks more "cool" stuff is on the way. It would have to be pretty special if Spielberg is involved. I really don't know. I would love a sequel, but maybe it means we will finally get a super, special edition, deluxe DVD?. I would be thrilled either way. More news should be coming soon.

THE GOONIES 2 - No chance of happening?. I told you about the big Goonies reunion in the Empire magazine, but a sequel doesn't seem to be coming out of it. Sean Astin("Mikey")seems to still be hopeful, saying he thinks one will happen some day. However, director Richard Donner says there is "no hope" for a sequel.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - Katie Cassidy(7th Heaven, Black Christmas, Supernatural) and Clancy Brown(Pet Semetery 2, Carnivale) have been added to the cast.

WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT 2 - Director Robert Zemeckis says he is thinking about bringing Roger back to the big screen, what with new techniques in animation that Zemeckis has been using in his last two films, "The Polar Express" and "Beowulf". A sequel has been talked about since the first film, but producer Steven Spielberg and Disney head Michael Eisner DID NOT GET ALONG and that created a problem. Eisner is out of Disney, and Zemeckis is interested. Could Roger be making a grand return to the silver screen?. I wouldn't mind.
