I really hate the idea of a Footloose remake.

I could go either way with it. I saw the original in the theater and maybe once more after. I am not really....connected to it, you know?.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - Unfortunatley, it seems that Platinum Dunes has gotten the green light for their Elm Street re-make. They say they would like to start shooting by March, but things are still in the earliest possible stages. It was also said that they plan to shoot around Chicago. Now, I love Chicago(thanks to John Hughes), but this means different street, and a different house. Don't like it. Also, Robert Englund is definitley not Freddy, but they would like him to be in the movie in some way. The only good thing they said was that they wanted to go back to the original and wanted the movie to be, as they put it, "pee your pants scary".

*UPDATE*

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - Samuel Bayer has been hired to direct the new movie. He only has 1 or 2 movies under his belt, but he is best known as a music video director. He directed Nirvana's classic "Smells Like Teen Spirit" video among others.

LETHAL WEAPON 5 - Not happening. Joel Silver may have other plans, but Mel Gibson tells MTV News "I can't imagine doing another Lethal Weapon. I know these things come around, but five?!. Five?. Please".

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Dan Aykroyd was at the House Of Blues opening and was asked about Ghostbusters 3. He said that a script had been commenced, and if the script is approved and all goes well, they could be shooting by late fall.

LETHAL WEAPON 5 - Some hope yet?. Director Richard Donner says that Mel Gibson basically turned it down because Donner wasn't asked back. He said he and LW4 writer have a great idea that LW fans would love. He said that if he was asked back to do part 5, that he could probably get Mel. He went on to say that he is actually going to be doing a new film with Mel, and that we would just have to see what happens.

CLUE - Apparently, a new movie based on the board game Clue is in the works, and "Pirates Of The Caribbean" director Gore Verbinski will be helming the new picture.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - The new movie begins filming in April

*UPDATE*

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Dan Aykroyd was on a radio show and confirmed what I posted about the script having been commenced and that he expects to see something in June. He expects it to be really funny because the two guys who wrote it also wrote Harold Ramis' new movie, "Year One", which I guess Aykroyd has already seen. He also said that they would all be in it, and like all the rumors that have circulated, the new movie will be about passing the torch to a new set of Ghostbusters. There would be a ghost busting training ground. He also said that if the new characters were strong, it could lead on to a Ghostbusters 4 and 5.

FRIDAY THE 13TH - With the new movie raking in $45 million opening weekend and $71 million so far worldwide(on a $19 million budget), it's no surprise that a sequel has already been announced, with the same writers penning the new script.

THE NEVERENDING STORY - This classic 80's family film fantasy is getting the "remake" treatment. Don't know much, but mega producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will be producing.

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Cinema Blend announced that G3 will be produced by Apatow Productions. No surprise. Judd Apatow is the comedy guy these days. He directed "The 40 Year Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up", and was the producer of films such as "Superbad" and "Walk Hard:The Dewey Cox Story". His name has been attached to this since rumors first started circulating. With this bit of news, it really seems like this is really going to happen. Now, who's the director?. It would be nice to get Ivan Reitman back.

RAMBO 5 - There are rumors floating around that Sly Stallone has been talking with Mickey Rourke to appear as a villain in the next Rambo flick.

*UPDATE*

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - The Judd Apatow news that he would be producing has now been proven false. The studio themselves said that there was no truth to it and Judd Apatow productions is not involved.

BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 - The co-writer says the movie is still a go, and that the script has been worked on. He says the movie is darker(like the original), where it was a real hardcore cop/crime movie with Eddie being Eddie, instead of making it more comedic with some crime thrown in like in the later films, especially the third. He also said that there is hope that Judge Reinhold's character will return and he won't be a corpse, as was stated in earlier script rumors.

LETHAL WEAPON 5 - It's as good as dead. Mel won't do it, and director Richard Donner still says it's because he wasn't asked back. Someone at Warner Bros. says that it's a pity because the new script was supposedly fabulous and would of been a much better send off than LW4.

*UPDATE*

GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Harold Ramis stopped by MTV to talk about his new film, and GB3 came up of course. He didn't really say anything new, but he confirmed the new Ghostbusters, and said for fans not to worry because the "core" players will be back. He also said that neither he, nor GB 1 AND 2 director Ivan Reitman, will be directing the movie.

THE KARATE KID - EP Will Smith has changed the title to "The Kung Fu Kid" for the upcoming re-make, and yes, it is still a re-make. His son Jaden is starring and Jackie Chan is Mr. Miyagi.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - The re-make starts shooting in April in Chicago, and still no Freddy. Someone got the script and had a video review of it. Basically, Freddy getting burned is all there, but instead of working at a boiler room and murdering these kids, he is now a gardener/caretaker at a pre-school and a vengeful mob of parents burn him for thinking he was a child molester. When he returns, it is out of pure revenge and goes after the little kids who are now 18. However, the question is - was Freddy really a child molester, or was he falsely accused?. Apparently, this is a question throughout the new movie.

I am really hating the idea of The Neverending Story and A Nightmare On Elm Street being remade. I will not be seeing those movies for sure. In my opinion, they are classics, and they should be left alone.

In terms of Footloose, I am not sure what to make of the remake. I guess I will wait till the DVD comes out to watch it.

I loathed the idea of the Elm Street re-make, although I admit the latest news I posted about Freddy has me a little intrigued. However, there is new news that doesn't. There is a rumor going around that the new Nancy in the Elm Street re-make is to be a gothic-type outcast. I don't like that at all!.

UPDATED -

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET - It is being *CONFIRMED* that Jackie Earle Haley is playing Freddy Krueger in the new movie. While I prefer Englund of course, this does give hope. After all, Haley is an Oscar nominated actor!. He was a child star in the 70's appearing in a few of the Bad News Bears films, before becoming washed up and disappearing. In the last few years, he popped up in a number of films. He was Oscar nominated for his portrayal of a sex offender(shades of Freddy?) in the Kate Winslet film, "Little Children". Most recently, he played Rorschach in the new "Watchmen" movie. Haley is a good actor and has that sorta creepy look and build that would suit Krueger. Google him and you will see what I mean. Freddy is Robert Englund, but Haley's casting does bring a lot of interest and hope.

I could be wrong because it's been a long time since I watched Karate Kid, but wasn't Mr. Miyagi Japanese? Isn't Jackie Chan...not Japanese? Not to mention the fact that Jaden Smith is too young for the part. He's like 10 years old!

This sounds awful, I wish Will Smith was one of those celebrity parents who didn't push their kid into the business at such a young age.
