Tigerland

"In September 1971, a platoon of recruits arrives in Ft. Polk, LA, for infantry training before leaving for war. The final week takes place in Tigerland, a swamp similar to Vietnam. Jim Paxton has enlisted; he wants to experience everything and write books later. He befriends Roland Bozz, a cool Texan with a gift for getting into trouble and for helping misfits get discharges. At least one sociopath in the platoon hates Bozz, even as the sergeants grudgingly recognize his leadership abilities. As the platoon heads into its week in Tigerland, Paxton's body gives out, Bozz makes plans to go AWOL, and the sociopath gets hold of live ammo. Is the Louisiana swamp more dangerous than the DMZ?"

As unbelievable as it sounds, I haven't seen this yet. Hubby saw it without me right before he worked with Colin in Phone Booth. I definitely need to rent it, I keep missing it on cable!

It's amazing. Bozz is the hero. I loved this show.

Hhehe. I made a screencap of it. Several screencaps that is. But yes, the movie has lots of frame freezing fun moments...and generally, it's an okay movie, though at the ending it's like "AAH! STUPID SCHUMACHER!" (in a non-bad way, but not in a good way either)

I know what you mean about the ending. I really wanted to hear what happened to him. I was even waiting to hear if he died, but nothing. I think that's worse.

God I have found the most awesomest (new word!) thread on FF at last!!!

Tigerland has been my ultimate fave film for a couple of years now. I remember going to see it at one just 5 theatres that was showing it in Melbourne when it was released, and there were only 7 other people in the theatre with me! I just got the dvd and have been reliving all the Bozzy goodness for the last few weeks.

I'm not ashamed to admit that if I actually met Colin I would probably pass out and/or do something that would probably get me arrested. The man is FIIIIINE.

And he looks sooooo good in "The Recruit" too.

And for the record, i loved the ending of Tigerland, it thought it was perfectly fitting, and very un-Hollywood. Loved it. Loved the whole damn movie.

I'm thinking I should buy this on DVD instead of just renting it.

I just added Tigerland to the top of my Netflix queue. I'll watch it when hubby is on location next week.

It's officially number 2 on my rental queue so I"ll get to see it soon! Now that I've seen Matthew Davis, I'm really looking forward to it!

2 nice hotties! With naked butt shots! And buddism (so not a word) in the context of war. Doesn't get much better. I know, it sounds like the only reason I like the film are the guys. But that isn't really so. I think this is a great picture about friendship in the face of adversity.
