New film? Ask the Dust
Hey all! Was just visiting Mary's always-fantastic site and discovered that our very own Colin might be in a new film entitled Ask the Dust. It sounds rather interesting, like most of Farrell's films, with depth and complex characterization. Okay, a few of his films... Anyway, for now it's unconfirmed but likely, so cross your fingers!
Check here (once again thanks to Mary!) for more info! [ 06-28-2003: Message edited stardevi ] __________________

You're welcome..
This project first was treated like a "rumor" on my message board..but after some stories in Variety it seems to be more of a real thing. I'll keep my eyes out for more scoops. There is a rumor that Tom Cruise may be in on the financing, although some people on my message board find it hard to believe that Tom would finance a possible "rival's" film. __________________

My god! Mary you've changed your site so much since I last went into it! It looks great! Good job!
Another article from chud.com: Colin Farrell gets it write Hard-working high-paid Irishman Colin Farrell (the favorite "spunk rat" of Dark Horizons' Gaaarth) seems to be veering away from the noisy large-scale flicks to which he's been gravitating in favor of smaller, more artistic fare. Or at least he will, once he finishes Oliver Stone's Great epic Alexander. Farrell will star in the adaptation of John Fante's classic literary work Ask the Dust, playing a struggling Italian writer trying to make his way in impenetrable 1930s Los Angeles. Spicy Latino Eva Mendes joins him in the flick, playing the gorgeous Mexican waitress with whom he enters a strange love affair. The film, produced by Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner's company, will be directed by Robert Towne (who, not enough of you will recall, wrote Chinatown). Whether Farrell has the intensity to express the immediacy and insanity of Fante's prose remains to be seen, but I'm personally interested in seeing him take on material a little more challenging than, say, The Recruit. Oh wow... another reason to look forward to 2005 I really would like to see this movie, it's interesting to see Colin doing some less high-profile work. Although it's funny because I'll bet it'll end up being high profile anyway, for the sole reason that Colin's in it

Is this movie based on a book too? I think I read in EW a lot of stars are going to make films from books. A lot of the times, those kind of movies turn out to be really great Oscar contenders and stuff.

That is complicated by meeting Arturo Bandini (Farrell), a first-generation Italian hoping to land a writing career and a blue-eyed blonde on his arm. Colin Farrell .... Arturo Bandini Salma Hayek Charlie Hunnam Donald Sutherland .... Hellfrick I canīt wait for this movie!! Iīm a big Colin fan, but I knew about the film coz I love Charlie Hunnam! __________________

hiya everybody I come bringing gifts
First look Pictures from the "Ask the Dust" Movie and here is the most Update in the cast list Colin Farrell ........... Arturo Bandini Salma Hayek ......... Camilla Justin Kirk.............. Sammy Val Kilmer .............. Hackmuth Donald Sutherland ... Hellfrick Idina Menzel ........... Vera Eileen Atkins ........... Mrs. Hargrove Charlie Hunnam ....... Sammy Updated to say that: For unknown reason Val Kilmer (and now Charlie Hunnam*) Have both backed out of the movie. *Physical exhaustion may have contributed to Charlie dropping out of film. Recently filming on "The Yank" aka "Hooligans" (with Elijah Wood and Claire Forlani) had concluded and he had said he was "knackered" and needed rest after doing all his own stunts. (dude I love you but you got to quit smoking) The film, about football (Soccer) violence contains some very intense fighting scenes. Justin Kirt (better known for Angles in America) took over the role Charlie was to play. They even dyed Kirt's hair blond to make him look more like Charlie.
