No longer is Valentine's Day just a day. This year, the candy-coated celebration of commercialism at its cheesiest has become a weekend, because the day itself falls on Monday. As a result, all the overpriced V-Day ripoffs begin tonight and invade some of our favorite places all the way through Monday. Oh, well.

For those who don't have dates, we hear that Hollywood horndog Colin Farrell is single and looking while he's in town with Jamie Foxx filming the Miami Vice remake. Not only was he at Metro Kitchen and Bar and at Skybar along with Beyoncé, he was spotted prowling around the Univision offices making his penchant for hot Latinas widely known.

Perhaps we should invite Colin to Nikki Marina's first anniversary party this weekend -- one of the few events that's not V-Day specific. The Saturday-Sunday celebration features runway shows with such designers as La Perla, Fendi, Ghost UK, Just Cavalli, Palmer Jones and Efren -- three shows each night.

Nikki has partnered with Funkshion, the South Florida version of NYC's Fashion Week. The show begins at 8 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, the celebration continues with a massive brunch at 11 a.m. Not a long list of confirmed celebs, but don't worry: Nikki Marina is a fave of sometime locals Missy Elliot and Matt Damon, who we hear may be in town palling around with Farrell, so you never know.

“They say all the world’s a stage, but all of Ireland is a film lot,” Mr O’Donoghue told a dinner in Hollywood on Tuesday hosted by Irish Consul General Donal Denham and attended by film personalities including actor Colin Farrell.

Joking aside, Mr O’Donoghue, who is the Irish Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism stressed that

the extension of Ireland’s tax-based incentive known as Section 481 from 2005 to 2008 was vital in attracting investment for Hollywood movies in Ireland. Under this scheme, which was to be phased out last year, Irish investors can write off 80 per cent of the amount invested for tax purposes.

Mr O’Donoghue will seek to increase the incentive by raising the cap on the minimum amount raised under the scheme. “If you want a high-budget film, the size of the cap could be the breaking point.
