I'll most likely won't pay to watch it either though understandable if they want people to pay more to watch it.

Yeah and it's quite old so I can imagine why they want people to pay more to watch it.

I guess so. I mean if we had it on cable for free, I'd prefer that but I won't pay more to watch the classic eps but that's just me.

Yeah that's my issue as well Lindsay. I would LOVE to watch them but I am not about to pay more. I already subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, and Prime. That's my limit. I refuse to subscribe to BritBox for just the classic series.

We don't pay for cable and those 3 services run me approximately $30 a month but I get a WIDE variety of new and past shows plus movies. But I refuse to pay more. The other two services that interest me - BritBox and CBS All Access (I LOVE the new Star Trek series) I won't pay for. Because if I paid for them as well then I might as well just get cable and then I would be saving no money. At least with Prime I get free two shipping on everything I order through Amazon and unlimited free Prime music. Otherwise I would just have Netflix and Hulu.....

I spend $10 on Netflix and $17 on our local cable. We don't have Hulu & Amazon here but if we had that, I'd pay for more than $30 just for watching TV and movies a month. My limit is usually around $18/month for cable. Anything beyond that price, no can do. So far Netflix has been a hit here and it's cheaper than our local cable (for now).

oh wow! $17 a month for cable is dirt cheap! The bare minimum package where I live - which only includes local stations - is $50 a month. If I wanted channels like BBC and AMC it would cost me well over $150 a month.

I could live with $17 a month for cable especially if I got a wide variety of channels.

It's pretty cheap here. That's why my relatives in the U.S. like to come here because a dollar can buy so much.

But wait, $50/month for just cable? That's too expensive.

How many eps do you get for one season of shows there? It's much more complicated here. Our primetime TV is patterned like Spanish telenovelas so 1 hour eps M-F. We don't do ratings. It's up to the creator when they'll end the show. So during the early days, some shows go on for 10 years. Now we're like the Brits, 6 to 8 months tops. And depending on the success of the show, at most 2 years.

Americans are obsessed with money so actors generally want their shows to last as long as possible since it's guaranteed employment for them. There are American actors who prefer to do fewer seasons but that is not the norm.

That's why 22 eps work for American TV. And yes, the longer the shows are, it also means the show is very successful.
