He's just announced that the next season will be his last and he will bow out after the Christmas Special this year...

Yep i saw that all on my news feeds im so sad .. im so completely surprised though dw takes alot of work and tbh the year break didnt help we could of got 2 seasons of him

I think if anything the break would have helped him as it would allow him to go off and do other projects without quitting the show, but this seems not to be the case. What saddens me is that he's going without seeing him with a competent show runner. I'm a big fan of Broadchurch which is one of Chris Chibnall's other projects and I think his writing is superb and if it translates over to Doctor Who, then there's no one I'd rather manning the TARDIS than Capaldi- preferably opposite Charles Dance as the Master but y'know... can't have anything in life...

One thing that I do like, is that with Capaldi's fandom for the show, it should be a guarantee that he would appear with Big Finish and I think he would flourish over there.

We were just talking about this a few weeks ago. I'm really sad because I did enjoy him as the Doctor but this is expected and he's had a good 3 years on the show. I will really miss him and hope to see him on another TV show soon after this. I also hate that his last episode is the CS, which is meant to be a happy episode but sadly that won't be.

With Chibnall & a new Doctor next year, it will be pretty exciting. I assume Pearl will still stay on as the companion though. I also like Chibnall's writing on Broadchurch and I hope he carries that over to the show.

That is true i didnt think of that him doing another project .. i mean im happy for the time that he was our Doctor but i do wish we could of seen what could happen under a new writer cause i also like broadchurch so i am excited for this change .

I think Bill will stay .. looks like we are getting a new doctor again i wounder how he would be like? Would he finally be ginger
