I kinda don't care that 13 is a woman.... I'm just used to the Doctor being male. More than that, i just wanna see HOW she is as the Doctor.

I have loved Jodie since I saw her in Attack the Block! She is an amazing actress!

I also saw her in Good Vibrations and in Adult Life Skills. Both very different roles for her. She is great at comedy and drama.

I am very excited they cast her! I can't wait to see her as the Doctor! Yes it will take some time getting used to because I am used to our time lord being male and it will take on a new feel for the show.

However I remember in first episode of Dr Who called The Unearthly Child that aired in 1963 how the Doctors Granddaughter Susan Forman was a Time lord (She was related to the Doctor so why not make her The Doctor) and of course who could forget River Song!

I think it is time we had a woman Doctor and I hope we get the first male companion! I can't wait to see the dynamic!

ADD ME!!!!!!!!!

OMG I love Jodie, she was great on Broadchurch. I should have known that Chibnall will probably get one of the actors on his ITV show.

I can just imagine all the girls now dressing up as The Doctor on parties, cons and other events. I'm so glad the BBC went for a female doctor. It's about DAMN TIME and I couldn't be more excited for the new season already. Also, time lords are technically aliens and therefore can regenerate to either man or a woman. That was also the case with The Master as we've seen with Missy. I think some fans just need to get used to a female Doctor since we've had a male doctor for such a long time so I understand the hesitation. But really, how many more TV shows are we going to get with a male lead? I'm so happy for this change that I'm still buzzing about it.

I expected this. I am so proud of the BBC to actually do this because I doubt any other network TV show will do this to a very long TV franchise as I'm sure the BBC knows that there will be some criticisms about this casting/direction they're going.

I have to say I'm am stoked for this change. And it gives me great faith in Chris Chibnall as a showrunner. Someone who is willing to take something that has been around 50 plus years and change it up shows he isn't afraid to take risks. I have been a fan of DW since Nine and I say its about time we get a female doctor. I know some are hesistant and I can understand after having it be male for the entire run starting in 1963, but give it a chance, I haven't seen broadchurch or anything Jodie is done but I am excited for this. The Doctor is a alien that can regenerate to anyone, why not a female?

Add me please.

I'm really excited to see a female Doctor.

I talked to my mum about it yesterday and she's really looking forward to it. She's watched Doctor Who from the very beginning and has seen every episode.

Add me too.

I think this is ground breaking and a good thing that the Doctor will be a Time Lady rather then Time Lord.

I personally think she'll do a great job.

I'm happy. We get a female lead for the next series, who will be mad, funny, intelligent, eccentric and played by an actress with the freedom to portray just about everything we love about the Doctor, and inspire so many young girls out there.

We have always known who the character is and what they stand for. They come from an ancient race of beings that have evolved beyond simple human concepts like gender. Because the universe is much bigger than that. As a long time fan of the series, I embrace this reality in it's context.

Which is why this change is 100% acceptable in my book.
