I think that had to do with the actress. Danny really wasn't written well and most times I felt like a scene with him was out of place. I generally like the other "minor" (but recurring) characters on the show like Wilf, Nardole, Capt. Jack, etc because at least they were written well.

Exactly. I am fine if the companion does not have any love interest. Or okay if the companion has one but needs to be incorporated well into the show the way Rory was to Amy.

Yep, Rory was a part of the action. As it was, Danny as Clara's boyfriend only needed to be referenced and occasionally seen when she was around. For how much he was around, he was involved way too late.

Very true. I really didn't feel his presence at all on the show. He kind of appeared when it was only convenient for the storyline.

plus they wanted to have this pull or divide between clara and the doctor cause he doesnt like soldiers . Plus that hint of romance between clara and the doctor

I didn't think there really was a hint of romance between Clara and the Doctor. The soldier angle was kinda annoying.

Yeah it was weird and because I was "binge-watching" that time, the ep felt off for me after being heartbroken over Amy & Rory's exit.
