CE never did episode commentaries, never did any of the other things around the show like audiobooks, video diaries etc. that DT did so enthusiastically. And that's his right and I can understand that maybe CE was in the show for the acting and not all that other stuff, but as a fan of the show it put me off a bit. I liked that DT was such a huge DW fan in all its forms, it added something for me that I didn't get from CE.
If I'm honest, I don't really understand this While I agree it is nice for the leading actor to be a fan, I don't kind of get how it adds more aside from the video diaries and extra bits that DT chose to do. Again nice to have but not necessary at least in my opinion. It didn't really make any difference to me because CE is still my favourite Doctor regardless of whatever extra things DT did.
The most important thing for me is the performance and Chris totally sold me on his portrayal of Nine.

Welcome Neda16 I will add you now

I guess that with cult shows like DW, fans do expect more from the actors. It was the same with Buffy when for years people were very critical of Sarah Michelle Gellar not appearing on the DVDs or making appearances at conventions

I suspect that fandom aspect of the role overwhelmed Christopher a little, he generally seemed more focused on the kids in the audience, and making the the sort of quality telly for them that he felt they deserved. I don't think he knew quite what to say when Jonathon Ross was pulling the action figures out Although he did enough interviews promoting the show that I can't really fault him (like I said before, I think whatever problems he had on set/with the BBC were what affected his participation with the DVDs as before then he was taking part in heaps of interviews discussing the role and promoting DW).

And I would have loved some commentaries with Christopher, but yeah I admitedly never cared all that much about the video diaries

Vintage Love, you have already been added to this thread But welcome again

So this has been in my mind recently. If CE had still been the Doctor in the S4 Specials, do you think the episode Waters of Mars would have happened? Given how careful Nine was with time, I find it hard to imagine that he would have done what Ten did but then again if he'd had the experiences Ten did, he might have been pushed too far. In a way, I would have loved to have seen what CE would have done with the ep too
