Oh me too. I'm fed up of being patronised by Doctor Who at Christmas by giving us something that is clearly aimed at either a younger audience (the Doctor, the widow and the wardrobe spring to mind) or the lets-make-innuendos-as-that-will-apparently-be-hilarious brigade (Time of the Doctor and the just stupid naked church). Just give me a good, dark story with a good plot.

Christmas TV is full of happy, cheesy stuff, we don't need it from DW as well

Dark and with plot would be far better, even if that means it has to be on later.

Dr Who doesn't have to be totally dark to be enjoyable. Last year's had plot and worked to my satisfaction. But I do agree past Christmas specials have tended to be on the lighthearted side. Which might have worked when RTD was running things, but we expect more from the Moff.

I found it especially disappointing considering that the year before we got The Snowmen, and I loved that.

Agreed. It was too busy, too cringeworthy and just... Ugh. DOTD-TOTD-Deep Breath was probably the most disappointing and underwhelming trilogy of episodes for me...

Didn't like that one. The best of an admittedly poor bunch was Christmas Invasion and The Snowmen.
