If memory serves, at least 1 classic companion died. Martha and Micky both walked away though.

I agree it'd be nice to have people walk away instead of losing them. Perhaps Moffat can solve the Clara conundrum to keep her from dying all the time.

Well if remember a classic storyline correctly, they used a regeneration to both change doctor and companions, by giving doctor amnesia/erasing his memory and planting him on a random location on earth. It was sort of my point that it doesn't have to be one particular way when doing the change and that it would make the show better if the writers could be creative enough to come up with another solution to such a storyline.

Oh see I never really watched the older doctors but that does make sense to why it's different now but I do think doing it that way is interesting give the show new life all the time .. Even though I like the way they do it now more people to connect I do get what you mean

Yer I like the idea of them walking away cause you know they are still alive and can either come and go from the doctor and still be human

Maybe you're thinking of the transition from Troughton to Pertwee. In that case, the Time Lords made the Doctor regenerate and erased his companions memories and put them back in their own time, then stranded the Doctor on earth. The idea was that the Time Lords felt the Doctor shouldn't be interfering the way he did, and they were punishing him for it.

Every regeneration has been a bit different though - in some cases companions overlapped, and in some they didn't.

Adric was the longest serving TARDIS crewmember to die in an episode, during the Fifth Doctor era. Two others died during the First Doctor era, but they were only around for a few eps. Adric was the main one.

There have been three "companion" deaths in the new series as well, all with the 10th Doctor. River Song died in her first appearance in Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead. Then there was Astrid in Voyage of the Damned, and Adelaide in Waters of Mars.

Whatever's going on with Clara, I think someone is doing it intentionally. It may even be a friend of the Doctor doing it (someone like River), trying to send him a message indirectly, to help him with something. It could also be an enemy trying to mess with him, but a friend seems more likely.

So in short traveling with the Doctor is a lot of adventure and fun but might be harmful to you health/life.

I enjoyed the episode a lot, now Moffat intends to make us terrified about wifi. However, my best friend pointed out how similar this episode was to The Idiot's Lantern and the moment she said it, I can't help but agree with her.

In TIL The Wire fed on people's faces, trapping them in television sets, here we had the Great Intelligence having his lackey stealing people from their bodies, digitally uploading them in order to feed them to him...

Maybe they are linked, the GI using modern tech as it evolves?

I rewatched the episode again with my sister and she mentioned that this episode left more questions than answers:

- What was the Doctor doing in the Monastery and for how long was he there?
- Are the spoonheads connected to the spoonheads from Silence in the Library / FOTD?
- Is the uploading of souls connected to CAL since it is similar the way it works and they are both Moffat episodes?
- What does the GI want? we knew he wanted to collect minds but we never knew what for
- When Clara came back from the data could she brought back computer skills. Is that related to her computer skills from AOTD?
- Who was the woman in the shop? Was it River?
- What's the deal with the leaf? (btw, I watched the posters and Clara seems to have a leaf on her hand for next episode)
- At the end of the episode, Clara didn't take the Doctor's offer and decided to stay home. What happens that she decides to travel with the Doctor on the next episode?
- The episode ends with the Doctor wondering who Clara is and setting the Tardis on Motion. Will he find out something? Is he going investigating?

and the thing is, knowing how Moffat likes to work his stories, I am sure all of these questions will be answered little by little, so I can't wait for the rest of the Series

Those questions are EXACTLY what I thought of too. It's very very similar, and I'll be surprised if there's no link between them...in fact, I'm surprised the Doctor didn't mention anything.

Don't know why the Doctor was in the Monastery, collecting his thoughts?

Not spoiled here but my bet is the next ep will start with Clara already back in the TARDIS, 'cause he came back the next day.

I'm sure most of our questions will be answered before the end of the season.

To earlier posts. I don't see Moffat copying a previous storyline (River Song) with Clara. We knew her fate cause of the order of the meetings. Storyline with Clara seems more complex then that. Overall, none of us know what will be the conclusion to the story. I don't believe Moffat himself even knows right now.

yeah I don't think it's River-Song like, for now, Clara's timeline doesn't seem to be mixed up, for now is like she dies and then is born again somewhere else.
