I'd say mine goes S2, S3, S1, S4.

Ooh, off to watch that

I cannot even make a top 4 list. I do love s2 to bits but I love the others just as much - just in a different way.

^ I think you're right. S1 will always be my favourite but the others are just as amazing. I don't hate any season at all.

Regarding Love & Monsters, I think the real issue for me was the concreate girlfriend. I just thought WTH, though I could understand why the Doctor did it and it pleased Elton in a way. I also didn't like the monster though I do like Peter Kay as a comedian in general

For me it probably goes...

S2 far FAR ahead of the others, then S1 and S4 in tied second place, then S3

I love them all really but I'm bias about S1 because my favourite Doctor and favourite pairing

I used to ADORE S2, it was my favourite at one time but then when I watched all series, I realised that I was not quite as fond of Rose in S2 as I was in S1 so that's why it's not my favourite and I don't think the writing was as strong either. Having said that though, there are some gorgeous Doctor/Rose moments in S2 especially the latter half

And nothing has made me tear up more then the Doctor & Rose parting ways in Doomsday...the only exception to that is Nine's regeneration.

But it was so... non-sequitur and not even in a funny way... *sigh* Yeah anyway Season 1 for me forever!

Yeah, I do really like Elton! But despite my intense love for Peter Kay, the monster was just lame and weird. And it was the first Doctor-lite episode- I wasn't used to it !

I know the monster was designed by a kid who won a Blue Peter comp so I kind of excuse the lameness of it but still, I just wasn't interested

I'm not a fan of Fear Her either because I think it's a slow storyline and a bit dull. Do like the Doctor/Rose moments though

Yeah but that's why you have to watch it again now, knowing from the start that it won't have the Doctor and Rose much so that you can keep an open mind and just enjoy it for what it is! really, I agree, the monster was lame but the rest of the story is really adorable, and I especially love all the bits with Jackie!!

Plus, I am easily entertained and really like the beginning with them running around and the "You said blue!" "I said not blue!" and then Billie does this:

and then my day is completely made

As for Fear Her, it's one of those episodes that really make it clear that I value character storylines over plot in Doctor Who. I mean, it's great when you can get both, but for me, all the Doctor/Rose bits in that episode and the general character development completely make up for the lame plot for me, and it's still one of my favourites because of that

That expression on Billie's face is priceless!

Strangely, I didn't actually see much character development in Fear Her at all and I do love character driven stories but I just didn't see it or feel it with this ep I adore the Doctor/Rose scenes though, so great The ending always saddens me because you know what's coming....

Fear Her for me felt like a filler episode, building up to the big finale.

I liked Fear Her. Funny thing - I read an old interview with David Tennant where someone was poking fun at the plot of that one being lame, and David of course loyally defended it. He thought it was a neat idea, and said he thought the girl was "proper creepy." I personally like it because I have children and the mother-daughter thing sucked me in, and also because I work with children and the idea of their drawings coming to life is such a whimsical one. (The Doctor is my 4 yr old daughter's imaginary friend right now. She spots the TARDIS all over the place)

I like the idea of drawings coming to life and the concept was good, I think it just fell flat on screen imo.

Still, there are lots of amazing episodes. The Idiot's Lantern is one of my very, very favourites I just adore the Doctor & Rose's cuteness at the beginning and then the Doctor's anger when Rose's face is taken.
The episode in general though is great. I love the boy Tommy, thought he was a great help to the Doctor and I was glad he stood up to his bully of a Dad.
I don't know, something about that era interests me anyway....

Yeah, The Idiot's Latern is one of my faves. You've got some genuinely excellent episodes like The Christmas Invasion, School Reunion, Girl in the Fireplace (debatable, I know!), The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit and AoG/Doomsday. And then there's the campy, fun enjoyableness of New Earth and Tooth & Claw, which I actually enjoy watching more than some of the 'good' episodes. Like give me a choice between New Earth and GitF, I'd pick New Earth every time, even though I know it's a technically worse episode.

It's really only L&M and FH I'm not a big fan of. But Fear Her still has some very, very redeemable points. And L&M has... Marc Warren, who's excellent as ever.
