It is such a sad moment because int hat moment the Doctor needed a song just as he needs River, but like you, I totally believe they spent 24 years together. They are the greatest adventure each could have with the other.

Yeah, I think that's why they have that bit of dialogue about how long a night lasts on Dirillium.

question how long was river in jail ? and how did she alwasy travel?

My impressions was River in Jail for years, not sure about the year count. River was impressive at escaping so Stormcage Prison was no match for her, and her time traveling was due to her very own Vortex Manipulator. though she didn't have it all the time mainly because she was sure enough to cross her time line with The Doctors and travel in the TARDIS.

Yeah, River was always escaping and one time she tells them to turn off the alarm as she was breaking back in.

I also remember one episode where a guard reports she was packing a bag / suitcase.

River would walk right out of prison like she wasn't even incarcerated! LMAO! By all rights, she didn't have to return, but because she was living up to a promise she always returned.

And she used the hallucinogenic lipstick on the guard too!! hahahaha! OMG! I love that!
