I finally watched all 4 parts of An Unearthly Child.
Story-wise it wasn't engaging. I find that I enjoy DW more when it features aliens/intergalactic creatures. Considering this is the early 60's, I can look past the production value and props. The actors are all good but I'm disappointed to find out that the Doctor didn't do much in this ep and the MVP of the ep for me is Ian, the "accidental" companion. I'll watch more episodes and just post my thoughts here. Question: The are some episodes that are missing? __________________

The first part was okay because it was the introduction to everything although I did guess very easily that the "grandfather" was the Doctor and Susan was not the granddaughter but his companion. William Hartnell is a good Doctor though, I need to see more eps, but I like his grumpy demeanor. I'll watch The Daleks in a bit but this is 7 parts and I still have stuff to do later.

But I'm interested in your thoughts- I agree with both of you. I love the first part but then it loses something... Though I do like the first half of Part 2, but then it does get away from one somewhat... __________________

There was a scene where the cavemen was just talking about fire and it dragged on for too long that I lost interest in their conversation.
Also, I just found out that the actor who plays Ian is Alfred Enoch's (Dean Thomas on HP) father. Quote:

^ I probably need to watch more eps to understand this right?
Petra, yes. From the actor's second marriage. He was already 60+ years old when Alfred was born. __________________
