But was she only 15 though? She's 15 in our earth years and in appearance to us humans, but like the Doctor, appearances and ages can be deceptive. According to Susan in the audio, Here There Be Monsters, she's older than Ian and Barbara combined...
I haven't listened to any of the audios. I was just going on what was said in the episode. It's true she may have said she was 15 so she could attend high school. But then, why not just say she is 18 and go straight to university? That's too much like Stephanie Meyer's Twilight saga. What kind of immortal adult chooses to surround themselves with 14-18 year olds when they have other options?

I assume because she doesn't look the age...? And also because although she's a genius in certain areas, she's an idiot in others- like the decimal system etc- she doesn't know about that period so I guess it's a case of go in at a lower level and learn about the civilisation and work her way up...

Maybe cause people would question them more ?.. lol i read twilight wnd the thing was they looked young and to avoid suspicion they just attending high school like 20 times cause they didnt age .

The doctor didnt want anyone to know they where there .. plus i dont think they stay in one spot for that long

Another good point- she may have known they wouldn't have had time to stay around for a degree...

And while I get that each regeneration is different, A) Never before, even after the Time War, did he forget how to empathise with people and interact with others and
The difference is he was on Trenzalore nearly as long as his combined total of years alive before arriving there. It would be like if we got stuck on an island at 45 and didn't get rescued until we were 70. You may have been an extremely well-adjusted person those first 45 years but there's no way to know how different you will be once you continue your old life after all of that time in stasis and watching every person you ever talked to in those trapped years wither and die.

B) The cards first appeared over 15 or 16 episodes into his era! If he didn't need them before, then he wouldn't need them now imo.
Yeah, and how many times did Clara have to smooth things over. How many times did he insult or offend someone? A lot.

Okay interesting fact here. When the First Doctor picked up the stone to get the caveman to 'draw' his way back to the tribe, he was originally planning on killing him to get back to the TARDIS, but time froze in that instant (Not to us, but for the Doctor) and was stopped by the Eighth Doctor who had lost his memories and had arrived at that time to get the first Doctor's memories, but also convinced him not to kill and that the ends don't justify the means...

From the novel The Eight Doctors...

A bachelor degree usually takes the same amount of years as high school and would work a lot better for someone who doesn't stay in the same place. Attend a couple of semesters at one university and then switch to another in a different city or country.

Susan could easily pass as 3-5 years older. I can pass for 20 and I'm almost 30.

That will never not sound ridiculous to me. They had money and resources. Nobody cares what age you are when you can buy your own house and cars. I can understand if they looked like middle schoolers but not late teens.

In England, a degree takes 3 or 4 years depending on your course, and if they were there for four months and then ended up in 1824 in Mexico, I think there may be a late penalty on the assignments! (Incidentally, the school never got that French Revolution book back ). And back in those days, the Doctor couldn't control at all where they would end up, so if they were only there a short time, it would take too long to get back...
